One of CFB27's most damaging launch bugs: every season, 150–200 four-star recruits simply vanished without signing with any school. CPU teams passively watched elite talent drift into nothing. EA's July 16 patch directly addresses this.
The Root Cause
CFB27 introduced a two-sided NIL recruiting system but didn't tune the CPU's recruiting AI to match. Late-cycle scenarios left recruits without viable offers. Smaller schools sometimes signed only 5–8 players per class. The CPU prioritized transfer portal pickups over high school recruiting — starving the league of new talent.
What the July 16 Patch Changes
Part one of the fix adjusts CPU recruiting tuning so AI teams compete more aggressively for highly-rated recruits. CPU teams will better prioritize and retain recruits after extending offers. Recruits will no longer be left without viable offers in late-cycle scenarios. Part two arrives in a future update and further refines recruit generation and player progression.
These changes are retroactive — existing Dynasty saves benefit immediately, though full effects become more apparent when you advance to the next season or start a new Dynasty.
Community Workarounds While Waiting
Before the patch, the community found that completely disabling the Transfer Portal solved the issue: almost all five-star recruits signed, and only about 8 four-stars disappeared per season. The tradeoff is losing the transfer system entirely. With the July 16 patch, keeping the portal at default (25) should now be viable — but the "portal fully off" approach still produces the healthiest recruiting ecosystem if you can live without transfers.
