The July 16 CFB27 update focuses on three systems that received the most community feedback: Coach XP progression, Dynasty recruiting, and Road to Glory advancement. Here's the detailed breakdown of what changed and why.
Coach XP: From Sliders to Speed Settings
EA removed the old Coach XP sliders in favor of three discrete speed settings. The Casual setting (1.5x XP) is closest to CFB26's Faster option. Simulation (1.25x) provides a middle ground. Career (1.0x) is the new default and represents the intended Dynasty Blueprint experience.
EA's reasoning: in previous years, the Fastest setting let coaches max out too quickly, undermining the long-term choices that Dynasty Blueprint is built around. The compromise keeps Casual available but caps the ceiling.
Recruiting: The Fix for Disappearing Four-Stars
One of the most damaging launch bugs saw 150–200 four-star recruits vanish every season without signing anywhere. The CPU simply wasn't recruiting aggressively enough. Update 1.005 changes that by:
- Tuning CPU competition for top recruits
- Improving how CPU teams prioritize and keep offered recruits
- Reducing late-cycle scenarios that left players unsigned
These fixes apply to existing saves, but full impact will be most visible in the next season or a new Dynasty.
Road to Glory: The EDGE Position Battle Bug
EDGE players in Road to Glory couldn't trigger the position battles required to advance on the depth chart. Update 1.005 addresses this with a temporary fix. EA is planning a more complete solution in next week's update and recommends transferring to another school if the issue persists.
