What a Lineup Includes
A College Football 27 Ultimate Team lineup is more than starters on offense and defense. EA Help lists lineup areas such as offense, defense, specialists, strategy items, playbooks, and visuals. That matters because a better lineup is not always the highest OVR at every position. Your playbook, specialist slots, chemistries, and ability choices can change how the squad performs.
Use Generate Best Lineup Carefully
Generate Best Lineup is useful when you receive a batch of new cards, but it should not be your final lineup decision. EA Help notes that it can fill the full lineup or selected groups such as offense, defense, special teams, specialists, or empty positions. Use it as a cleanup tool, then manually review specialists, third-down roles, sub packages, and positions where scheme fit matters more than raw overall.
Multiple Saved Lineups
Multiple saved lineups are useful during launch week because you may want different squads for solo challenges, online games, theme builds, and experiments. Copy your active lineup before making large changes, rename variants clearly, and delete old test lineups after you settle on a main build. This makes it easier to compare changes without losing a working squad.
Ability Management and AP
Abilities are managed through the Ability Management flow. You can activate or deactivate abilities, review Ability Point costs, and track how much active AP your lineup is using. Ability tiers include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Heisman. Higher-tier abilities can be powerful, but AP budget and player role matter. Do not spend AP on a player who rarely touches the ball or only appears in low-value situations.
Chemistry and Strategy Items
Chemistry slots and strategy items should support the way you actually play. A run-heavy Dynasty-style Ultimate Team build should prioritize blocking, power, and ball-carrier support. A spread passing team needs route running, pass protection, and receiver separation. On defense, match abilities and strategy boosts to your coverage shell, pressure plan, and user-control position.
