CFB 27 PC Settings Guide: Best Graphics, FPS, and Performance Presets for Every Budget

CFB 27 is the first entry in the modern college football franchise to release on PC. The Frostbite Engine port is solid, but the settings menu has more options than the console versions, and not every setting is equally important. Here is the CFB 27 PC settings guide for 1.005, broken down by hardware tier.

The first setting to change: Window Mode

For CFB 27 PC, the most important first setting is Window Mode. Use Fullscreen or Borderless Window based on your preference. Borderless is safer for multi-monitor users and for alt-tabbing, but Fullscreen produces marginally better frame pacing on single-monitor setups.

Frame Rate Cap

Set your Frame Rate Cap to 60 FPS or Auto (60/30) for the CFB 27 PC settings baseline. If you have a 120Hz or higher monitor and consistent frame times, you can try a higher cap, but most gaming PCs will struggle to maintain 120 FPS in packed stadiums.

Global Visuals

Set Global Visuals to Custom. This unlocks the per-setting control you need. The "Auto" and "Low/Medium/High/Ultra" presets lock you out of meaningful tuning.

Cutscene Visuals

Set Cutscene Visuals to Low or Auto. The cutscenes in CFB 27 are heavy, and they do not affect active gameplay. Spending GPU time on cutscenes is a waste of resources for most CFB 27 PC builds.

VSync

VSync depends on your display setup. If you have variable refresh rate (VRR) support, leave it on or use Fast Sync. If you do not, the choice depends on your tolerance for screen tearing versus input lag.

HDR

HDR is a presentation choice in CFB 27 PC settings. Set it to Auto if your display is configured for HDR. If your display is SDR, leave it off.

Raytraced Lighting

Raytraced Lighting is the single most expensive setting in CFB 27 PC. Set it to Off. The Frostbite Engine implementation is not particularly impactful in this title, and the FPS cost is severe.

Lighting Quality

Lighting Quality can be set to Medium for most CFB 27 PC builds. Drop to Low if night games or weather effects remain GPU-heavy. The packed-stadium lighting tests are the real benchmark.

Advanced Hair

Advanced Hair is a low-impact setting in CFB 27 PC. Set to Low by default. Raise it for close-ups if you have spare GPU headroom.

Sideline Quality

Sideline Quality should be set to Low for CFB 27 PC. The sidelines are CPU-heavy and the visual difference between Low and High is marginal during gameplay.

Higher Texture Quality

Higher Texture Quality is the major VRAM consumer in CFB 27 PC. If you have 8 GB or less of VRAM, set it to Off first. The texture pop-in during replay transitions will tell you if this setting is too aggressive for your hardware.

Mesh Quality

Mesh Quality is set to Medium for most CFB 27 PC builds. Low is a fallback for weaker GPUs; High is for systems with spare headroom.

Crowd Quality

Crowd Quality is one of the biggest performance hogs in CFB 27 PC. Set it to Low. The packed-stadium CPU/GPU pressure from high crowd density is severe, and the visual difference between Low and Ultra is mostly noticeable in the cutaways.

Shadow Quality

Shadow Quality is set to Low or Medium for CFB 27 PC. Medium produces a noticeable quality improvement if the GPU has room.

3D Grass

3D Grass is set to Off for most CFB 27 PC builds. Turn it on only if you have spare headroom and the worst-case test route remains smooth.

VFX Quality

VFX Quality is set to Medium for CFB 27 PC. Drop to Low for weather or celebration-related dips.

Ambient Occlusion

Ambient Occlusion is set to Screen Space (SSAO) for most CFB 27 PC builds. SSAO is the performance-oriented method. Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion (GTAO) prioritizes richer depth and is more expensive.

Ambient Occlusion Quality

Ambient Occlusion Quality is set to Medium for CFB 27 PC. Lower it only if the GPU is still the limiter after the larger cuts.

Bloom, Lens Flares, High Res Circular DOF

These are mostly presentation preferences. Set Bloom and Lens Flares to Off for CFB 27 PC. High Res Circular DOF is mostly visible in replays and close-ups, not when reading the defense. Off is the right choice for most builds.

Graphics Adapter

For hybrid-graphics laptops in CFB 27 PC settings, verify the game is launching on the dedicated high-performance GPU. Otherwise, you will be playing on integrated graphics and performance will be terrible.

Performance Overlay

Turn the Performance Overlay on while tuning your CFB 27 PC settings. Turn it off after you have finalized your profile if you prefer a clean screen.

The "Packed Stadium" test

For CFB 27 PC settings tuning, the most important test is the packed-stadium test. Run a full drive in a packed stadium during rain, with pre-snap camera movement, a long play, a replay, and a cutscene. This test exposes more than standing still in a quiet menu. The target is not one flashy average; it is a game that stays responsive through the entire drive.

When to lower the resolution

Resolution is the last setting to lower for CFB 27 PC. If you have cut every other setting to Low and the GPU is still pegged at 100 percent, dropping from 1440p to 1080p will produce a meaningful FPS boost. Do not lower resolution first — lower Crowd Quality, Sideline Quality, and Shadow Quality first.

Adjust one setting at a time

When tuning CFB 27 PC settings, change one option at a time so you can see which change actually helps. The result from any single setting changes with your hardware, resolution, stadium, weather, camera, and current game patch. A 5 FPS change at the menu does not always translate to a 5 FPS change in-game.

Hone.gg optimizer

For Windows gaming PCs, Hone can reduce avoidable background load after you tune CFB 27 PC settings. Results vary, and it cannot patch the game or guarantee FPS, but it is a free tool worth trying.
