From Removal To Redesign
Paid progression options were officially removed from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty as of July 11, following the #CFBPlayDontPay community campaign. EA's July 16 Campus Huddle followed up by explaining how progression is designed in College Football 27 and pledging greater transparency and communication for CFB28 and beyond.
The Trust Conversation
During the backlash, Steam reviews for College Football 27 sat at a 'Mostly Negative' marker, and the controversy reached financial-news framing as outlets covered EA's stock reaction. EA's line is that paid progression was added independent of deeper mode progression to give players more choice, and that feedback showed it was not delivering the intended value.
What Stayed Removed
Not every decision was reversed. Road to Glory XP sliders remain out by design, with progression tied to the mode's broader career systems. Players with existing College Point balances could not apply them in Road to Glory or Dynasty after the removal.
