CFB 27 Next Title Update — Every Bug Fix Coming and What's Still Broken

EA confirmed a gameplay-focused title update is targeted for the week of July 20. Here is every confirmed fix, what the community is demanding, and the bugs that might finally get addressed.

CFB 27 Next Title Update — Every Bug Fix Coming and What's Still Broken

EA Sports confirmed in the July 14 Campus Huddle that a gameplay-focused title update is targeted for the week of July 20, 2026. As of July 21, no patch notes have been released — but the confirmed fixes, in-development items, and community wishlist paint a clear picture of what is coming.

What EA Has Confirmed Is Coming

From the official Campus Huddle and EA forum posts, these fixes are confirmed for the next title update or an upcoming one:

  • Part 2 of EDGE position battle fix — The July 16 patch addressed the primary trigger issue, but EA acknowledged additional cases still need resolution. Players still stuck should transfer schools as a workaround until the next patch.
  • Cap Breaker application fix — Some Road to Glory players cannot apply Cap Breakers. This fix is confirmed in development for an upcoming title update.
  • Part 2 of late-cycle recruiting adjustments — More recruits will receive viable offers late in the cycle, building on the July 16 recruiting tuning pass.
  • Recruiting budget tuning per school — Each program's recruiting budget will be individually tuned to better reflect real-world program resources.
  • Pancake block fix — EA confirmed pancake blocking is being investigated and a fix is coming. The excessive pancake rate has been one of the loudest competitive complaints since launch.
  • Additional player progression and recruiting generation improvements — EA is continuing to tune offseason progression and recruit generation distributions.

What the Competitive Community Is Demanding

The July 16 patch did not touch most of the launch gameplay bugs competitive players deal with every night. MaddenTurf's running bug list tracks the following unfixed issues the community wants addressed:

  • Defense flip bug — Slot corner fails to travel, user defender freezes for 5 seconds. Skimbo exposed this on July 20. The number one community priority for the next patch.
  • Formation shift glitch — The Gun Bunch "Nasty" formation flips to the wrong side and burns play clock. Formation shifting still grants more hot routes than intended.
  • Green timing catch metering issues — Green-timed catches fail to meter off chip releases, and green-timed D-line picks not metering.
  • Coverage shells misaligning — Coverage shells randomly line up wrong against identical formations.
  • Flipped routes + speed boosting glitch — Routes that flip incorrectly and speed-boosting exploits remain unfixed.

What the July 16 Patch Fixed

For context, the July 16 Title Update already delivered: three new Coach XP speed presets (Career/Simulation/Casual), a Dynasty recruiting tuning pass, higher offseason player progression, the EDGE position battle fix (Part 1), Coach Adjustments carrying into Dynasty correctly, defensive package persistence during hurry-up, and Switch Stick input delay reduction.

What to Watch

The next title update is expected to drop any day during the week of July 20. When it does, MaddenTurf's patch tracker will have the full breakdown. The competitive community is watching closely: if the flip bug gets touched in this update, the defensive meta shifts overnight.
